If you’re one of the online generation, and by now I hope
all of you are, something new has been added.
Well, it’s not that new. It’s
been around a while but people don’t know much about it. In a nutshell, you go to Meetup.com and
create a profile. From there you can
join “Meetups” in your area. A Meetup is
a gathering, or meeting, or activity where people of similar interests get
together and do stuff. Some are business
related, some are social circles, but all of them are based around a common
theme or interest.
Jenn and I started a Meetup of our own a few months
ago. Ours is centered around what we do
for a living – coaching to help people find their 5 most dominant talents, but
we don’t charge anyone. It’s our way to
share something we think is very important - some group coaching - with everyone
regardless of their ability to pay.
Meetups can be found on almost any topic you can
imagine. For example, say you want to
join a “Real Estate Cash Flow Game Night” Meetup - there’s one for that. Or maybe you like meditation, or hiking, or
biking, or business networking, it’s all there at Meetup.com. They’re not all free, some have a minimal fee
to reimburse the organizer for expenses relative to the Meetup.com fee, or the
meeting place, or other expenses incident to putting on the Meetup.
Meetups are a good way to get out from behind your computer,
or your TV and get out and meet real people with similar interests. Check it out!
